Do you know that working from home is becoming increasingly popular among some companies across the world. It even has a short form now in texts WFH.

Here are some obvious yet important advantages when you work from home:

Saves Commute Time

Some people may not realize this until they have experienced but daily commute to office is a big headache in most cities. The bigger the city the more the traffic and the far you live from office the harder it gets to reach. This morning and evening hustle can take time as well as significant amount of your energy.

When you work from home you save this time and energy that can be spent on some meaningful tasks. For example you can sleep an hour more or you can do some exercise or anything that brings joy to you.

Schedule Meals

Setting up a custom schedule for your meals cannot be more easy. You can plan more meals and time them to suit your schedule. When working from office we don’t have that freedom. It will be awkward if you take 4 meals (including snacks) in the office while your coworkers only take one or two. Especially if you are going to gym and have to gain mass in which case number of meals and their timing has to be well planned. You likely feel peer pressure or feel like a fish out water thinking that everyone might be judging you or mocking you on your back.

At home though you can prepare easy meals and eat them fresh. Even when you have a deadline to meet, you can bring snacks to your desks and munch in between.

Productivity

I have always felt more productive at home then at the office. In the office there are more than necessary unwanted distractions that demand your attention and time. Someone broke their chair, someone smashed the door hard, someone had an argument over something, someone having discussion with one yet the the whole team is listening and so on.. With random stuff happening very 5 mins or so it is very hard to keep your focus on.

Stretching and Exercise

Not every office has a mini gym or off work stretching area. Some companies do have a playing area or a sports room. however it will be awkward if you go there every hour or two for as little as 5 mins and have your body perform some stretching exercises, push-ups or just do some quick breathing exercises (yoga style).

At home you can have your sports mat near your desk and whenever you think that your back is feeling a little strain, or perhaps you are not able to focus any more, or feel a heavy breath because had an intense focused hour, all you have to do is get up from your chair and hop on to the sports mat and do some stretching or breathing to bring back that relaxation and mindfulness.

Save Money

This one is obvious because you don’t have to pay for the gas if you are driving or pay for the bus, metro train if you enjoy public transport for that matter. But there is more to that.

People often buy lunch from restaurants near their work location, some order through delivery platforms like Uber Eats which incur them extra costs. In big cities, especially if you are working in downtown, you have to pay for car parking. This can be as much as $25-30 per day in some cities.

All these can drain significant amount of your salary and more often than not people do not even realize because of their busy schedule and after all that work stress who does not want some comfort. It is understandable yet if you are struggling to make both ends meet this can very well be the reason for that.
